Today we're diving into something that honestly, I never thought about until I started hanging out with more programmers—why is so much coding taught in English? Like, you have to learn the logic of coding and a whole new language at the same time. That's a lot! But, I guess, if you can get through that, it makes you way more flexible. You can join global teams, read the latest stuff, all that.Yeah, and I saw that when I was running my college coding club. We started getting students from, like, everywhere—Brazil, India, China. At first, I was just rattling off explanations in my usual way, but then I realized, wait, not everyone gets my weird slang or my, uh, metaphors. I had to slow down, pick my words, and make sure I was actually making sense in English, not just.. talking. yeah, it's like, teaching in English is harder, but it's also super rewarding. You get to help people connect with this whole global community. Exactly. And that brings up something I think about a lot—how do you actually make code, and the way you talk about it, understandable for everyone? Like, you can't just throw a bunch of words at people and expect it to stick. You gotta use words that make sense, stuff people already know from everyday life.and how can you do that? When you're teaching code, especially in English to a mixed group, you have to do the same thing. Use teaching vocab that everyone knows—like "start," "stop," "repeat"—and only bring in the technical terms when people are ready.Yeah, and sometimes I catch myself using, like, three different words for the same thing and confusing everyone—including myself. But I think that's okay! It shows that there are lots of ways to explain something, and if one way doesn't click, you just try another. And honestly, that's a great strategy for teachers, too. If you can explain a concept using everyday language, a metaphor, and then the technical term, you're way more likely to reach everyone in the room.
